David sits up, figuring it'll be easier for the doctor that way. His pain medicine is quieting him down, though he's forcing himself not to try to strangle this new doctor. He already doesn't like the man. But then, he rarely likes anybody. "Am I gunna live to kill the kid that did this to me?"

Abby looked towards him with a warning glance.

[i]"Well, you're going to live...but you will need surgery. A couple pins should do the trick to set it back. You'll be off work for a little while, then you'll come in for a check. We'll know then if you can work again."[/b] he said, his voice firm, but quiet.

Abby moved closer, knowing David wouldn't react well to the doctor's diagnosis. She placed a hand on his good shoulder as the doctor spoke.

He wiggles a little, and is just about ready to take a swing at the doctor when Abby puts her hand on hsi shoulder. "Alright...Time off I can deal with. Rehab, perhaps. But I can't--won't--retire early." He pauses for a moment, thinknig, bedfore adding: "Surgery...okay...But if I wake up with no pants on, I'll hunt you down and kill you."

She laughed lightly at his actions and put a hand on his cheek. "I ain't scared of you..." she said softly. "And you aren't crazy...most of the time at least." Her tones contained that teasing, friendly tone that they almost always held when she spoke to him.

David sighs and shakes his head. "Did I scare him away or something?" He goes back to grumping for a moment, wishing he could just get the damned surgery over with, so he can get to healing and back to work.

She shook her head. "Naw, probably not, but who knows. He's kinda soft spoken and doesn't talk much, but he's the best of the best. I'll be off tonight during your surgery, but I'll be on tomorrow morning." She sat in a nearby chair and folded her arms across her flat stomach. "Actually, I'm off now..." she said, glancing at her watch.

David sighs a little, lowering his head. "You don't have to stay here with me if you don't want to..Sicne you're off-duty...You probably want to get home and sleep." Plus, anesthesia always makes him sick--no matter what he does, any tiem he has surgery he pukes afterward, several tiems. He doesn't want Abby to see him like that.

"No, I'll stay. I'm afraid you'll have my staff killed if I go home." she said softly. She smiled lightly. A small strand of hair fell into her eyes and she quickly brushed it away from her face. She sighed softly and peeled off the lab coat and tossed it in the nearby bed. She tucked her feet up into the chair, resting her hands on them.

"I'll be good little boy, mommy..." The pain medicine is starting to take an effect on David, making him more playful than he usually allows himself to be. And if he knew what he was doing, he's slap himself or something.
