She laughed lightly. "Congratulations." she said, an awkward smile on her face. She took a bite of the plain salad and then looked back up at him. "Why don't you come over someday...and have dinner at the house?" she asked softly, hoping he'd say yes.

"Only if you promise me something." He pauses for a moment, deciding to explain. He points at the salad in front of Abby, and smirks. "No chick food." He can't stand salads or the like. He has to have meat, or something equally awesome. "I'd invite you to my place, but...You'd probably die of food poisoning or something."

"You seem to caring for that." she said honestly. She felt...something there, but what it was was a mystery to her.

"Not on purpose, no...But my cooking leaves a lot to be desired." In simple terms, his cooking sucks. Badly. He hates to cook, and sucks at it. He'd cooked a couple times when he and his buddies were out camping or something, and they all ended up tellnig him that his cooking sucks.

She smiled. "Well, maybe so. But hey, I eat hospital food everyday." she said with a laugh. She took the finishing bite of her salad and the last drink of her soda. "Thank you for dinner, really, it was good to get away from cafeteria food for a while." She glanced at her watch and sighed. She had to be at the hospital at 6 the next morning and worked until 2. "I have to be at that crazy place at 6, and I'm a prisoner there until 2." She loved her job, but she didn't like the hours. A trade off she supposed she could live with.

He nods a little, and stands. He belches loudly, then picks up the wrapper his taco came in, crumples it up, and chucks it across the room, where it lands in the trash can. "Did you want to go home, then?"

She shook her head. "Not really. All I've got waiting at home is a huge empty house and a beautiful pregnant Pitt Bull." she laughed lightly. She thought of Ice and the way she'd act if she neglected to come home before midnight. She smiled slightly. "Is there anywhere else you wanna go? Or have you had enough time with crazy me?" she asked.

He has to laugh a little, shaking his head. "No, I haven't had enough...I just thought you'd be tired of me by now..." He's not sure what else there is to do. It's not like many places are open this time of night.

"I don't think there's any such thing." she said smiling. She extended her hand to him and looked towards the door. "Let's go..." she said softly as she took a few steps towards the door. She wanted to get outside...she was tired of being so, cooped up.

David sighs, shaking his head as he starts for the door. He knows he needs to get up really early in the morning, there's things he needs to do before work, which is also inhumanly early. Strange enough, he'd volunteered to do the early-morning stuff, rather than the day shift. He'd jsut switched. And next week, he starts the all-nighter, and hoepfuly that'll be what he stays with the rest of his career.

She smiled as she exited the building. "Hey..." she started. "Do you wanna go catch a movie at my house or something? That way neither of us will be up too awful late, considering I'm sure you have to be up early with your profession." she said with a laugh. She was still wide awake, although she knew the later she remained up the more tired she'd be the next day, and she was a doctor, so tired was not good.

David yawns a little and nods, belching. "Sure, sounds like fun...Not a chick flick, I hope." He smiles, half-teasing. He's pretty open-minded when it comes to movies, but he can't stand one where it's a bunch of chicks giggling the whole time, or some lovey-dovey couple that has one minor problem, but work it out and end up getting married in the end. He prefers war movies. Well, duh. Anything with random, senseless violence. Like Hostel. Hostel is the perfect movie: it's got alcohol, drugs, sex, random, senselss violence, and swearing.

She laughed lightly, revealing her straight white teeth. "No chick flick, I swear to it. I'll let you pick the movie. I have a big selection, and then there's pay-per-view." she said with a smile. She knew what she wanted to watch...Jarhead. She'd never seen it, though she'd had the movie a while. She prefered anything though, anything good. She twirled her keys around her finger as she awaited his reply.

"Alright, let's get going, then." He'll probably just pick whatever movie he sees first, and fall asleep in the first forty-five seconds of it. Not that he doesn't care about the movie, just, when he's tired, he falls asleep fairly quickly, and there's next to nothnig in the world that can wake him up.
